INTRODUCTION:
Sphynx is the most extraordinary cat you can find. Ugly for somebody and the most fascinating for other else. His nakedness is absolutely his striking distinguishing mark: this skin like a newborn baby, extremely sweet, and covered by a delightful and thin fuzz which appears as similar as chamois skin.

|
TEMPERAMENT:
Sphynx cat is a mixture of tenderness, intelligence, braveness and scamp behaviour in an extraterrestrial cover. Endowed with a human-like look, this cat own great tenderness, terrific well-balance, and strange but true, he enjoy very good health. Sphynx is a bit more sensitive to the cold than a normal cat thats the reason why this breed is always starving, infact this hairless cat had to accumulate the necessary fat calories to maintain the body temperature at the right level, the same as the other cats have.

STANDARD:
Body: Medium in size, medium/light boning but very muscled with good tone, the body looks strong and balanced. The chest is broad and may tend toward barrel chested. The abdomen is well rounded, having the appearance of having eaten a large meal, but not fat.
Head: Medium-sized, modified wedge with rounded contours, slightly longer than wide. Prominent cheekbones and good pinch. Skull is slightly rounded with a rather flat forehead. Quite short nose with slight to moderate stop. Hard chin. No whiskers.
|
|
Ears: Very large, broad at base and open. Set upright; they occupy a good part of the heads sides. The interior is totally hairless. Slight amount of hair allowed on lower outside edges and on the back of the ear.
Eyes: Large, rounded lemon shape. Slanting to outer corner of ear. Slightly more than an eye width between eyes. Their color should harmonize with the color of the body.
Feet: Medium/light boning and firm musculature. Behind legs slightly longer than front. Feet medium in size and oval shape with long, slender toes. The paw pads are thicker than in other breeds, giving the cat the appearance of walking on "air cushions".
Tail: Long and narrows. Quite moving and rubber like. A lion tail (puff of hair on tip) acceptable.
Coat: Obviously the less the better. Skin is covered with short, fine down; similar to newborn baby or chamois skin. It can perspires and also get a tan. It reacts like human skin. May have puff of hair on tip of tail and this harmonize with ones in the nose, ears, toes and testicles. The skin is very wrinkled in kittens. Adults should retain as many wrinkles as possible, especially on the head, although wrinkling should not be so pronounced but follow the movements of the body. |
